Referendum Project Updates

In March 2024, the majority of Lemont residents voted in favor of a referendum for park district updates and development without raising taxes for Park District debt service. With this referendum, we outlined four projects including the development of Derby Farms Park, Centennial Community Center expansion & renovations, the CORE Fitness & Aquatic Complex enhancements, and new pickleball and tennis courts on 127^th Street.

Progress Reports as of August 2026

Centennial Community Center: The construction teams are making strides on the building renovation with constructing walls and renovating various areas.   Work in the Preschool wing continues to be the priority to ensure everything is ready for the first day of school beginning on September 8^th. 

The CORE Fitness & Aquatic Complex: Demolition and progress continue on the East side of the building.  New foundations for the building expansion have been completed and steel and framing are expected soon.  The fitness classes that have been impacted, have been relocated. Please continue to check the fitness schedule for any updates.

Tennis Facility on 127th Street: Permits are complete and waiting on comments from partnering agencies. We anticipate going to bid this Fall and to begin construction in Spring 2027

Derby Farms Park: The team continues to collaborate with additional agencies on this project. Permits are complete and we anticipate going to bid on this project in Fall. A traffic signal has been approved for installation at 131st & Derby Roads to assist in traffic calming.
