Referendum Project Updates

In March 2024, the majority of Lemont residents voted in favor of a referendum for park district updates and development without raising taxes for Park District debt service. With this referendum, we outlined four projects including the development of Derby Farms Park, Centennial Community Center expansion & renovations, the CORE Fitness & Aquatic Complex enhancements, and new pickleball and tennis courts on 127^th Street.

Progress Reports as of June 2026

Centennial Community Center: Construction has begun on the North and South corridors. The facility is still open, as well as the Outdoor Pool. Please use the main entrance of the building to access both the community center and the outdoor pool.

The CORE Fitness & Aquatic Complex: Construction has begun on the East side of the CORE. Impacted fitness classes have been relocated-please see fitness class schedule for changes.

Tennis Facility on 127th Street: Staff are finalizing civil engineering plans with architects and engineers.  Tree preservation measures have begun, with construction to begin in the coming weeks.

Derby Farms Park: Staff are finalizing plans with the architects and engineers for this park. The team is collaborating with multiple agencies permitting with the Village of Lemont, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, and Cook County Highway Department. A traffic signal has been approved for installation at 131st & Derby Roads to assist in traffic calming.
